Stepping into a jiu jitsu academy for the first time can be intimidating. We get it. Here is exactly what you need to know before your first class. No fluff, just the facts. Leave your ego at the door and show up.
What should I wear to my first class?
T-shirt and board shorts or spats. No zippers, no pockets. Bring water and a mouthpiece if you have one. Keep it simple.
Do I need prior martial arts experience?
Zero. Everyone starts at the bottom. Leave your ego at the door, show up, and we'll teach you the rest.
What if I am out of shape?
You don't get in shape to train jiu jitsu. You train jiu jitsu to get in shape. You will sweat, you will gas out, and you will get better.
