ADULTS 14+

Adult BJJ (1 hr)

Ages 14+. Our flagship no-gi BJJ program. Modern 10th Planet technique, hard drilling, and live rolling every class. Beginners are paired with senior teammates so you learn safely. Eight classes per week across mornings and evenings so you can train around work.

AGE 5 ONLY

Little Ninjas (30 min)

Age 5 only. Highly structured intro to grappling for the youngest age group. We focus on listening skills, coordination, and basic movements. Tuesday and Thursday at 4:30 PM. This class is waitlist-only - call (740) 520-0112 to ask about openings.

AGES 6-8

Kids BJJ (45 min)

Ages 6-8. Real jiu jitsu technique scaled for younger kids. We focus on control, confidence, and respect. Tuesday and Thursday at 5:00 PM. Coach Jon personally teaches every kids class so you know who is on the mat with your child.

AGES 9-13

Youth BJJ (45 min)

Ages 9-13. The bridge between kids class and adult class. Real technique, real sparring in a controlled setting, and the start of competition prep if your kid wants it. Tuesday and Thursday at 5:45 PM so parents can watch both kids sessions back to back.

INVITE / APPROVAL

Kids Competition Practice (45 min)

For kids actively competing or preparing to. Focused drilling, situational sparring, and matchup-specific work. Wednesday at 5:45 PM. By invitation or coach approval so the room stays safe and productive.

Ask Coach Jon if and when your kid is ready to join this group.

ALL LEVELS

Saturday Boxing with Coach Artie (1 hr)

All levels. Boxing technique, conditioning, and controlled sparring led by Coach Artie Douglas. Saturday 8:30 AM. Included with membership or available as a separate class. Great standup cross-training for grapplers and beginners alike.

MEMBERS

Open Mat (Friday 6:00 PM)

All current members, all levels. Unstructured rolling time where you work on what you want, ask questions, and get extra reps. The single best night of the week to level up and try new jiu jitsu with teammates you trust.

Which Kids Class Should I Sign My Kid Up For?

Use this quick guide to match your child to the right kids BJJ class on our schedule.

• My kid is 4-5 years old - Little Ninjas on Tuesday/Thursday at 4:30 PM (waitlist-only, call us). • My kid is 6-8 years old - Kids BJJ on Tuesday/Thursday at 5:00 PM. • My kid is 9-13 years old - Youth BJJ on Tuesday/Thursday at 5:45 PM. • My kid is 14+ years old - They train in our Adult BJJ classes (very common and welcome). • My kid wants to compete - Start in their age-group class, then we add Wednesday Competition Practice when Coach Jon thinks they are ready.

BEFORE YOU SHOW UP

Your First Class - Here's What to Know

You do not need experience or special gear to start. Here is what your first night at 10th Planet Newark looks like.

STEP 1

Arrive 10 minutes early

Walk in the front door at 409 S 22nd St, Suite 6 in Heath. There is free parking directly in front of the academy.

STEP 2

Wear fitted athletic clothes

A rashguard or fitted T-shirt and athletic shorts are perfect. No zippers, pockets, or buttons. Bare feet on the mats, slides or flip-flops when you step off.

STEP 3

No experience needed

We will show you what to do from the first drill. You will be paired with someone who knows the program. Nobody gets thrown to the wolves or pressured to keep up.

STEP 4

First class is free

No drop-in fee, no contract, no pressure to sign up on the spot. Try a class, see how it feels, and if it is not for you there are no hard feelings.

Can I drop in for a single class?

Yes. You can drop in for one class, but we recommend using the free trial first so you can feel how the room runs and meet the coaches.

What if I miss a class?

No problem. Just come to the next session that fits your schedule. Adult and kids BJJ classes run multiple times per week so you can make up training.

Is there a waitlist for any classes?

Little Ninjas for age 5 is waitlist-only with manual booking. All other kids and adult classes are open as long as the schedule shows them. Call (740) 520-0112 if you have questions.

Can my kid try a class above their age group?

Sometimes, yes, but only with coach approval. Start them in the class for their age, then we will let you know if and when it makes sense to move up.

Do you cancel classes for holidays?

We may close for major holidays or severe weather. Any changes will be posted on social and announced in class. The online schedule is always kept current.

What is the difference between Open Mat and a regular class?

Regular classes have structured warmups, technique, and drilling before live rolling. Open Mat on Friday at 6:00 PM is unstructured rolling and work time for current members.

Can I bring a friend to a class?

Yes. Bring them along and we will have them sign a waiver. They can use the same free class offer or just watch from the side if they want to see how things run.
