These are the plain-English rules for our facility. No corporate legalese—just a direct, upfront agreement on how we operate, bill, and train together.

We are 10th Planet Newark, a martial arts academy located in Heath, Ohio, specializing in no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and boxing. We run a straight-shooting facility. No hidden fees, no complicated corporate jargon. You are here to train; we are here to teach.
When you sign up, you agree to a recurring membership. Our billing terms are strictly enforced to keep the academy running smoothly:
We do not do hostage situations, but we do require notice. To cancel your membership:
You can cancel your membership anytime by logging into the Membership page on 10thplanetnewark.com and clicking "Manage Membership." The cancellation form is built into your account portal and takes about 60 seconds.
This is the only accepted method of cancellation. We do not process cancellations submitted by email, text message, social media direct message, voicemail, or verbal request to a coach. This policy exists to protect both you and us — every cancellation has a clear paper trail, so there's no confusion about dates, refunds, or access.
It is your responsibility to submit your cancellation through the portal before the deadline. We do not pro-rate, refund, or reverse charges on missed deadlines — the cancellation tool is available 24/7 and takes less time than sending an email.
If you are having technical trouble accessing the Manage Membership portal, contact us at [email protected] so we can help you log in. Note: contacting us about technical issues is not itself a cancellation request — you must still submit through the portal once access is restored.
Combat sports are inherently dangerous. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and boxing involve intense physical contact, joint locks, chokes, and strikes. Injuries can and do happen, ranging from minor bruises to severe physical trauma. We do not sugar-coat the reality of the training environment. You are choosing to participate in a physically demanding and risky activity.
By stepping onto the mats at 10th Planet Newark, you voluntarily assume all risks associated with training. You release the academy, its instructors, and your training partners from any and all liability for injuries sustained during classes, open mats, or sparring sessions.
Martial arts build discipline and resilience in children, but safety requires adult supervision outside of class time. Our instructors are here to teach, not to act as a daycare service. Parents or legal guardians must ensure their children are prepared for class and follow academy rules before and after their session.
A legal guardian must sign the assumption of risk waiver for any student under 18. For children under 12, a parent or guardian must remain on the premises for the entire duration of the class. Minors are not permitted on the adult mats during live sparring sessions.
CULTURE_03 // CODE OF CONDUCT
Leave your ego at the door. We train hard, but we train to build each other up, not break each other down. Respect your training partners, respect the tap, and respect the academy. Dangerous, reckless, or malicious behavior will result in immediate termination of your membership without refund.
Hygiene is non-negotiable in combat sports. Wash your gear after every session. Keep your nails trimmed short. Shower before you train if you are dirty from work, and shower after. If you suspect any skin infection, you do not step on the mats until you are completely cleared by a doctor.
CULTURE_04 // MEDIA RELEASE
We regularly take photos and videos during classes and open mat sessions for social media, marketing, and academy promotion. By training at 10th Planet Newark, you consent to being filmed and photographed in the background or during action.
If you have privacy concerns or wish to opt-out of media appearances, please notify the front desk directly so we can accommodate you.
